Donald Trump, America’s favorite orange man, recently did a radio interview where he was asked about what he thought in regards to Colin Kaepernick’s protest of the national anthem…here’s what the orange man had to say:
“I have followed it and I think it’s personally not a good thing, I think it’s a terrible thing, and maybe he should find a country that works better for him, let him try. It won’t happen.” — Donald Trump
Now why in the world would a white person tell a person of color to find another country that works better for them? Why? Last time I checked, I thought this whole idea in regards to American exceptionalism was built on the premise that America is the only country on the planet that is SUPPOSED to be a safe haven that works for EVERYBODY. Isn’t that story we’ve been spoon fed since our stint in daycare? Well if that’s the case, then why in the world are white people telling Black people that we need to pack up our shit and relocate if we decide to address the issues of systemic racism & police brutality? Why?
Maybe it’s because white people love the idea of the systemic racism & police brutality.
Maybe white people love the “benefits” that systemic racism, enforced by the strong arm of the law patrolling Black neighborhoods, affords them.
Maybe white people love the idea of silencing Black voices & pain as if it is a genetic trait that has been passed down through the generations since the first slave ship arrived at these shores.
Maybe.
What benefit do white people stand to gain for seriously addressing the issues of systemic racism & police brutality? Seriously? If systemic racism magically disappeared overnight, then white Americans would be forced to play the game of life on an all level playing field. If police brutality magically disappeared overnight, then white Americans would be forced to realize that everything Fox News & Conservatives have been forcing down their throats about Black society are simply not true. Dispelling these myths that allow for systemic racism & police brutality to live on would make America not so exceptional because you have to remember, according to white people, America is an exceptional country. America is so exceptional that it would rather for people to leave the country than to honestly address & fix the problems of systemic racism & police brutality. Seriously. Think about this people:
White Americans would rather for people of color to pack their shit up & leave the country than to fix the issues of systemic racism & police brutality.
Let that marinate.
So if the solution to dealing with systemic racism & police brutality is for people like me to leave the country, then one can only conclude that white people telling people of color to leave prefer for the country to uphold the institution of racism along with enforcing their policies of institutional racism by way of police brutality correct?
I mean, if we were roommates & you told me that I need to clean up my shit because I’m living foul & filthy and in response I told you to pack your shit and leave…then it should be obvious that I prefer the lifestyle of filth. Right?
White Americans, do you honestly prefer a country that practices systemic racism & police brutality against people of color? Every time one of you opens up your mouth to tell a person of color to leave the country in response to systemic racism & police brutality…well, that’s the message you’re sending out. But then again, do you even care? Probably not.
